Update on CDC Quarantine and Isolation Guidelines

We hope everyone had a restful holiday and is looking forward to a prosperous New Year.
Over the holiday break, news of the Omicron virus was ever present as an uptick in infections began. In an effort to continue to help our community navigate the ever-changing guidelines, below is a breakdown of current CDC Guidance. We hope that this update helps you to plan safely for your upcoming shoots.
UP TO DATE AS OF JANUARY 3, 2022
The CDC has put out new guidelines for isolation of positive individuals and quarantine of exposed individuals. These guidelines are based on the new Omicron strain.
If you test positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccine status (Isolate)
Stay home for 5 days
If you have NO symptoms or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave your house.
Continue to wear a well-fitted mask around others for an additional 5 days
If you have fever or other significant symptoms, continue to extend the isolation period until fever free >24hrs and symptoms improved
If you were exposed to someone with COVID-19 (Quarantine)
If you have been boosted OR completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months OR completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months
Wear a mask around others for 10 days
Test on day 5 or sooner if you develop symptoms
What if I have not gotten my booster yet?
If you completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 6 months ago and are not boosted OR completed the primary series of J&J over 2 months ago and are not boosted OR are unvaccinated
Stay home for 5 days, after that continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days
If you are unable to quarantine from others (for example, a parent who is has to take care of your kids,) wear a well-fitted mask for 10 days and do your best to wash frequently
Test on day 5 or sooner if you develop symptoms
** The CDC is signaling that they may advise a person to "test out" of quarantine on day 5. We will keep you posted as further information becomes available.
Note: The AMA continues to monitor the CDC recommendations for quarantine requirements and will send updates as more information is released.
